(28.6 x 19.7 cm) Venice, Accademia 257 In this sheet of study drawings, Leonardo works out the pose and shading of the body of the Christ Child for his painting Virgin, Child, and St. Anne with a Lamb. At the top he experiments with subtle modifications in the placement of the baby's limbs; at the center right he defines the play of light on his torso, next to which he studies the infant's face. Sketches at the bottom of the sheet work out details of the pose left undecided in the upper drawings. Z10
